Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Where to buy more dressed up toddler boy clothes?
We are going to a funeral at the end of this month. I have been looking for an outfit for my 14 month old and all I can find are casual clothes.

Where can I buy a nice pair of slacks and a dress shirt for a toddler?

    • ANSWER:
Seriously, walmart (they have a brand called "Mark something" and they have really nice slacks and oxford shirts or if you want more variety, Gymboree (always find nice dressier things there)

  2. QUESTION:
Please help, I'm looking for SUMMER dress clothes for my toddler boy?
I'm having the hardest time trying to find a short-sleeved, button up dress shirt (not a polo) and pants for my son. He wears about a size 3T. Anyone know where I can find something. I am especially looking for a plain white or off-white dress shirt. THANKS!

    • ANSWER:
Gosh, that's a toughy. The only places I remember seeing something like that are Crazy 8, Von Maur, and Kohl's. Since it's almost August, I'm not sure if they really replenished their stock or not. It might be worth a try to check out though. I know someone else mentioned Children's Place, but I've not seen anything like that that wasn't a polo there. I could be wrong though.

Von Maur may not be really close to you, but maybe you'd want to check their website for a location near you. They have SO much more in the stores than they do online (seriously, SO much more, LoL). It's not a real cheap place though, but you'll get some quality dress clothes that will last. I know there is one in Livonia at Laurel Park and I believe there is one at Briarwood in Ann Arbor, but double check to make sure. They have TONS of kids dress clothing there. Oh, and if you do go, check out the kids' clearance shoe table. Might get a good find! :o ) Good luck!

  4. QUESTION:
Where do you buy toddler boys dress clothes?
I’m doing last minute shopping and my son suddenly has to come to the wedding we’re going to. Our babysitter isn’t able to come through and now we’re stuck taking him with us. He’s 2.5 yrs old and I’m trying to find a cute outfit for him to wear to the wedding.

I looked online for Walmart and Target but don’t see anything cute.

I was hoping for cheap since it’ll be a one time wear. But if I have to spend a smidge more I’ll do it.

Everyone has adorable girl stuff – but I have a boy!

Where the heck do you shop for this stuff?
FL Sunshine - we had a "Once Upon A Child" near us and they closed it down. I'm SO bummed because they always had really nice stuff. :(

    • ANSWER:
      Childrens Place.
      Macys.

  5. QUESTION:
Is it bad that my two year old toddler boy dresses in girl clothes when playing dramatic play?
My boyfriend freaks out when our 2 year old son dresses in girls clothes and puts on makeup with his sisters. He gets angry and wants to punish him. He says that he will grow to be a fag and allowing him to freely play this way only teaches him to be feminine. I disagree and feel that many young children do this and it shouldn't be an issue.
It breaks my heart that my boyfriend would think this way. What would someone who has experience in early childhood development say to this?

    • ANSWER:
It's perfectly normal behavior. Kids need to try out all sorts of roles. When he gets to preschool he'll probably move on to dressing up in more traditional "boys things". Your boyfriend can do real damage by making him feel guilty. What you can do is to offer him some more choices. The girls would benefit, too. Add some uniform pieces, some pieces of fabric and lots of job-related hats. I hope your boyfriend doesn't get upset when one of the girls decides to dress up as a firefighter! And by the way, how a 2 year old dresses has nothing to do with his sexual identity and anyhow, why does it matter.
